Hawaii has Talent!

Aloha,
Two of the best players currently in the major leagues were born in Hawaii. They are Kurt Suzuki of the Oakland A's and Shane Victorino of the Philadelphia Phillies. The average baseball fan might not know how much baseball talent there is on the Hawaiian Islands, but Ill tell you, the Islands have a tremendous amount of talent with Kurt Suzuki and Shane Victorino leading the way. Suzuki is currently batting .241 with 12 home runs and 53 rbi while Victorino is currently batting .251 with 15 home runs and 24 stolen bases.

Hawaiian Legends

Aloha,
No Hawaiian Baseball blog can begin without mentioning two baseball legends from Hawaii, Lenn Sakata and Mike Lum.

Sakata played second base mostly for the Baltimore Orioles including the World Champion Orioles in 1983 while Mike Lum played outfield mostly for the Atlanta Braves and is the all time home run leader among Hawaiians with 90 home runs. Both players were born in Honolulu.
