Sid Fernandez, LHP, New York Mets

Sid Fernandez was born in Honolulu, Hawaii and became one of the Greatest Pitchers of the 1980's. A LHP who played mostly for the New York Mets, Fernandez compiled a 114-96 record with 1,743 strikeouts over a 14 year career. Proud of his Hawaiian Roots, Fernandez wore uniform number 50, in honor of Hawaii being the 50th state. The theme song Hawaii Five O was often played before his starts at Shea Stadium. Fernandez played for the World Champion New York Mets in 1986.
